The original Uinta County Detention Center was constructed back in 1983. This building was in use until the new (and latest) building was built back in February of 2008. The building started construction back in the fall of 2006.

The Uinta County Detention Center is operated and managed by the Uinta County Sheriff’s Office. The facility is licensed by the state of Wyoming.

The Uinta County Detention Center can currently house around 130 inmates at any given time. The facility currently has three separate housing units where the inmates will sleep.

Many inmates in the Uinta County Detention Center are currently going through the judicial system, while others are already sentenced and serving their time.

The facility is a medium-security jail. They only house adult inmates. The inmates are both male and female.

As previously stated there are three housing units in the Uinta County Detention Center. The facilities intake section can house up to 17 inmates in their 5 separate areas. The other areas of the jail include, but not limited to the following:

• Court Holding
• Fully Staffed Kitchen
• Laundry Facility
• Library/Programming Room
• Master Control Center
• Medical Unit
• Recreational Room

Every housing units come equipped with a video visit station, telephones, televisions, common kitchen area, day room, gaming tables, and natural lighting. The housing units also have a canteen where they can purchase special items that the jail does not give them such as junk food and various beverages.
