The Boone County Jail opened its doors back in 1987. When the facility first opened their doors they could house up to 111 inmates at one time.

The Boone County Jail is operated and managed by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. The facility does not only house inmates who have already been sentenced. The facility also houses inmates who are currently going through the judicial system.

The Boone County Jail also does not only house inmates who were arrested and/or convicted of crimes in the Boone County. The facility will also take in inmates from the US Marshals, other counties, and the Department of Corrections (state prisons).

The Boone County Jail has its inmate roster public for the community to view. The database is updated regularly. The database will only show those who are currently behind bars in the Boone County Jail.

The facility offers a wide variety of programs for its inmates to participate in. These programs include, but not limited to:

• Adult Education (GED Prep)
• Chemical Dependency
• Recreation

• Church

The facility also offers inmates a work release program as well. This program will allow inmates to have the chance to keep their current employment or even obtain employment (if they are not employed) while they are serving out their time in the Boone County Jail. The inmates will be required to pay the Boone County a daily fee to enroll in this program.
