King County Jail (Seattle Division) opened its doors back in 1994. The reason for the detention center was to provide a safer community for all involved. With the new State Regulations rolling out, the county jail that was standing prior to King County Jail (Seattle Division) wasn’t able to meet all of these requirements set forth.
The King County Jail (Seattle Division) was built to be a safe and secure facility that will serve the present and future needs of the Miami county law enforcement agencies. The facility went through many hours of planning thanks to both the state and local officials. The facility was built with the most recent trends in concepts, while still being in compliance with state and federal laws.
The facility is home to adult male and adult female inmates. This facility does not take in any juvenile inmates whatsoever. The King County Jail (Seattle Division) is a medium-security facility. There is another facility within the King County that will keep the juveniles.
