The Lee County Jail was built back in 1941. The facility is nestled on the fourth floor of the Lee County Courthouse.
The losing of the status brought on research for a potential remodeling of the old facility, whether it was to renovate their current space or build a whole new facility.
All staff members go through intense training to protect themselves, other inmates, and visitors in any given situation. All training surpasses both state and national standards. The main mission at the Lee County Jail is to provide a safe and humane environment for inmates and the staff.
Inmates who were sentenced for longer than 2 years will be transferred to a new facility in the state to finish out their remaining time on their sentence. All inmates in the facility either are waiting for trial, waiting for sentencing or have already been sentenced. Inmates who have already been sentenced in the Lee County Jail typically have a sentence of 2 years or less.
The facility will accept inmates from other law enforcement agencies from the local, state, and even federal level. Inmates in the Lee County Jail are not always residents of the county.
