The Goochland County Sheriff’s Jail is a medium-security facility. The facility only houses both adult male and adult female inmates. This facility does not house juvenile inmates.

The Goochland County Sheriff’s Jail is situated in Goochland, Virginia. The Bertie-Martin County Sheriff’s Office is the law enforcement agency responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Goochland County Sheriff’s Jail.

The Goochland County Sheriff’s Jail was constructed back in 1983. This was the year they started processing and booking inmates. In 2015, the Bertie-Martin County had a population of a little over 3,600 residents. The Goochland County Sheriff’s Jail only has a capacity of holding 90 inmates at any given time. There are only 90 beds in this facility.  Over the years the Goochland County Sheriff’s Jail went through many renovations. The facility can now house up to 116 inmates. All inmates will be housed in certain areas depending on a few factors including:

• Crimes they were convicted of
• Current Risk Assessment
