The Craig County Jail is nestled in New Castle, Virginia. The Craig County Sheriff’s Office is the law enforcement agency involved in the Craig County Jail day to day operations.
If an inmate has a violent past or violent tendencies they will be separated from the general population. The facility is a medium-security prison. Majority of inmates in this facility will have sentences of 2 years or less. All inmates here are typically non-violent.

This unit will help treat these inmates who have special needs and not put them out in the general public housing.
