The Windsor County Sheriff’s Office is the agency in charge of maintaining and operating the Windsor County Jail.
Not all inmates in the facility have been sentenced. There are inmates in the facility that are waiting for their trial or waiting for their sentencing.
The facility opened its doors back in October 1987. When the facility first opened they could only house up to 63 inmates at any given time.
All violent and out of control inmates will be separated from the general population inmates to keep the peace inside the facility at all times.
The Windsor County Jail accepts inmates from surrounding municipalities and towns when there are no rooms in city jails. Majority of the inmates that are already sentenced have sentences less than two years.
With the HIPPA laws, the medical issues of the inmates are 100% confidential and will NOT be discussed with anyone other than the inmate. While inmates are in the facility, they do have access to daily medical care.
