The sheriff’s department runs the Windham County Jail. The facility is divided into two vastly different divisions; custody and services.
The services division is responsible for classifying all incoming inmates, preparing the inmates meals (they receive three meals every day), ensure inmates receive the proper medical care, run the Sheriff’s Community Labor Program, be on top of the transport of inmates, warrants, and their work release program.
The Windham County Jail provides resources, services, and programs for their inmates to partake in.

The Windham County Sheriff’s Office is the law enforcement agency responsible for the day to day operation of the Windham County Jail.
The Windham County Jail typically holds inmates who are waiting for their trial to start, inmates who are going through their trial, and inmates who are waiting to be sentenced. However, there are a handful of inmates who have already been sentenced. These inmates who have already been sentenced will carry a sentence of two years or less. Inmates who are sentenced to more than two years will be transferred to state prison.
