The San Juan County Jail is operated and ran by the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office. The facility is also a part of the Work Release/Jail Alternatives Facility.
The San Juan County Jail mission is to provide a safe and secure facility for both inmates and the staff. The facility is a medium security correctional facility.
It is for the safety of everyone involved. While inmates can have visitors, all visitors will be subjected to a search prior to entering the facility. Any and all declines of the search will lead you to NOT be permitted inside the facility.
They will then be moved out of gen population to keep the peace of the facility. Inmates will be in general population unless they are at risk of causing violence.
They also are a part of delivering civil papers, providing safety and security to the courthouse, and following the execution of court papers. While the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the jail, their job does not stop there.
In return for their hard work, they can shave off a few days from their overall sentence. While inmates are serving their time out in the San Juan County Jail, they can work throughout the jail such as laundry personnel or a kitchen staff member.
