The Reeves County Jail is located in Pecos, Texas. The Reeves County Jail is operated and managed by the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office.
The Reeves County Jail mission is to provide a safe and secure facility for both inmates and the staff. The facility is a medium security correctional facility.
Majority of the inmates that are already sentenced have sentences less than two years at best. The Reeves County Jail accepts inmates from surrounding municipalities and towns when there are no rooms in city jails.
The Reeves County Jail receives new inmates to the jail daily. While new inmates are coming in, there are also inmates leaving as well. Inmates are released when they post bail, placed under probation, or on their own recognizance either awaiting their trial or after they’ve served their time.
All violent and out of control inmates will be separated from the general population inmates to keep the peace and protection of others inside the facility at all times.
In 2017, the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office axed the Jails Community Corrections Division. This means that the Reeves County Jail will not have the Work Crew or the Work/Education Release (WER) programs available to their inmates any longer.
