The sheriff’s department runs the Shannon County Jail. The facility is divided into two vastly different divisions; custody and services.
The Shannon County Jail is a medium security prison that houses adult inmates. No minors are in this facility. This facility is where people who are arrested in Shannon County will go when they are booked and processed.
The services division of Shannon County Jail is the division that is responsible for all activities and functions that help support the facilities main purpose.
The services division is responsible for classifying all incoming inmates, preparing the inmates meals (they receive three meals every day), ensure inmates receive the proper medical care, run the Sheriff’s Community Labor Program, be on top of the transport of inmates, warrants, and their work release program.
The custody division of Shannon County Jail is the division that is responsible for the custody and care of all inmates. These responsibilities including but not limited to checking all incoming and outgoing mail, passing out the inmates three meals, ensuring all inmates receive their medication, making sure they follow all housing assignments, ensuring inmates are being transported when they should and doing random housing checks throughout the day and week.
