The Major County Jail is located in Fairview, Oklahoma. The facility is operated and managed by the Major County Sheriff’s Office.
The facility is a minimum-security facility. It also operates with the Oriana House as well.
The Major County Jail opened its doors back in August of 1990. When the Major County Jail opened it was replacing the Fairview Correctional Facility.
It was not until 2006 when the facility was approved to construct three more housing pods that would be equipped with double bunks for their inmates. This was going to bring their total number of beds to 19. They would be able to house 89 females, 564 males, and 18 toss-up beds.
While the Major County Jail is a full-service detention center, they operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Alongside the Major County Jail is the Oriana House. The Oriana House has 2 supervisors 13 deputies for the 150-bed facility. This facility is for DUI offenders and non-violent overflow offenders from the jail.
Majority of the inmates in the facility are non-violent offenders. They typically carry a 2 year or less sentence. The facility does not only house inmates who have sentences, they also house inmates who are currently awaiting their trial also.
