The Highland County Jail is located in Hillsboro, Ohio. The facility is operated and ran by the Highland County Sheriff’s Department.
The Highland County Jail first opened its doors back in 1989. During this time, the jail could only hold a maximum of 30 inmates.
Shortly after they opened their doors, they started to expand by adding more housing units, which brought their total from 30 inmates up to 102 inmates.
The Highland County Jail does not the only house sentenced inmates. They also house inmates who are awaiting their trial. These inmates have been arrested in Highland County. However, at times, the Highland County Jail will also house federal inmates and inmates that are from Cook County.
The jail is one of the Highland County Sheriff’s Department main task by the Ohio State Constitution. Justin Hartman, Chief of Corrections is one of the supervisors that oversee the correctional officers in the Highland County Jail.
