The Towner County Jail is in Cando, North Dakota. The Towner County Jail is operated and managed by the Towner County Sheriff’s Office.
The Towner County Jail should not be confused with the Towner County Jail- minimum security facility on South Mission Road.
Majority of the inmates that are already sentenced have sentences less than two years. The Towner County Jail accepts inmates from surrounding municipalities and towns.
The Towner County Jail receives new inmates to the jail daily. While new inmates are coming in, there are also inmates leaving as well. Inmates are released when they post bail, placed under probation, or on their own recognizance.
The inmates who are not released will have their own bed and be allotted three meals a day.
While inmates are serving their time out in the Towner County Jail, they can work throughout the jail such as laundry personnel or a kitchen staff member. In return for their work, they can shave off a few days from their sentence.
All violent and out of control inmates will be separated from the general population inmates to keep the peace inside the facility.
