The North Dakota Detention Center is over the 268,000-square-foot facility. The facility can hold up to 200 inmates at any given time. This is why the facility is one of the largest in the bureau.
The Sheridan County Jail accepts inmates from surrounding municipalities and towns when there are no rooms in city jails. Majority of the inmates that are already sentenced have sentences less than two years.
The Sheridan County Jail receives new inmates to the jail daily. Inmates are released when they post bail, placed under probation, or on their own recognizance. While new inmates are coming in, there are also inmates leaving as well.
In return for their hard work, they can shave off a few days from their overall sentence. While inmates are serving their time out in the Sheridan County Jail, they can work throughout the jail such as laundry personnel or a kitchen staff member.
