Golden Valley County Jail opened its doors back in 1994. The reason for the detention center was to provide a safer community for all involved. With the new State REgulations rolling out, the county jail that was standing prior to Golden Valley County Jail wasn’t able to meet all of these requirements set forth.
Majority of inmates in the facility have already been sentenced. Most of their sentences are less than 2 years. The Golden Valley County Jail is a medium-security jail.
This new facility that is now known as the Golden Valley County Jail took many years of careful planning. There were many agencies involved with the planning including the Golden Valley County Jail Administrators, the Golden Valley County Sheriff, Thomas Altiere, and many other agencies to make this dream become a reality.
The Golden Valley County Jail only houses adult male and adult female inmates. The Golden Valley County Jail will process nearly 7,000 inmates every year. The facility has a daily inmate population of around 300 inmates.
