The Divide County Jail opened its doors back in 1987. When the facility first opened their doors they could house up to 111 inmates at one time.

By 1990, the Divide County Jail inmate population went up to 272 inmates, this happened to be far above what the North Dakota State Board Corrections allowed.

The Divide County Jail has its inmate roster public for the community to view. The database is updated regularly. The database will only show those who are currently behind bars in the Divide County Jail.

The facility offers a wide variety of programs for its inmates to participate in.

All dormitory housing units are direct-supervision style. They all have a correctional officer station inside each of the housing dorms, with another indirect supervision from the housing booth as well.

The goal of the Divide County Jail is to have all of their staff members meet and exceed the standards that the Administrative Codes, North Dakota State Statutes, and the United State Constitution set forth.  All staff members will go through rigorous training to meet every procedure and policy to ensure the safety of both the other staff members and the community.
