The facility is staffed with 10 full-time correctional officers alongside the jail administration. All correctional officers will be required to undergo a 120-hour course held by the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. All correctional officers will also need to be certified in CPR and first aid.
The Barnes County Jail is a medium-security detention center that can hold up to 32 inmates at any given time. This facility will house adult male and adult female inmates. This facility does not house any juveniles. Inmates in the facility will either be waiting for their trial or serving out their sentence.

Inmates that are in the Barnes County Jail will be billed $70 a day they are in the facility. If an inmate is on work release, they will be charged $70 plus an additional $15 as well.
Inmates can also take advantage of the showers, medical care, educational programs and so much more. The facility gives inmates many of these privileges in exchange for their good behavior. Inmates can have visits with their families, write letters, and call home.
