Not all inmates who are in the Person County Detention Center are residents of Person County. The Person County Detention Center also accepts inmates on a local, state, and even federal level.
Person County Detention Center has over 130 beds.
The Person County Detention Center that you know today, was not the once awesome state of the art jail that you see now. In Roxboro, North Carolina the Old Person County Detention Center is a historic site. This original jail was constructed back in 1903.
Violent and out of control inmates are segregated. The inmates are watched closely during this time to see if they will be put in the general population or isolated. When an inmate arrives in jail, he or she is put together in a large holding cell with other inmates during booking.
While inmates are serving their time out in the Person County Detention Center, they can work throughout the jail such as laundry personnel or a kitchen staff member. In return for their hard work, they can shave off a few days from their overall sentence.
