The Harnett County Detention Center is an all-security detention center. An all-security facility means the facility can house inmates from a minimum-security standpoint to a maximum-security standpoint.  This facility will house adult male and adult female inmates.

The Harnett County Detention Center is a 106,562 square foot facility. The facility can hold up to 324 inmates. The facility also is home to the Harnett County Magistrate’s Office and the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office.

The Harnett County Detention Center has 7 housing units. Three of these housing units are direct supervision housing units. Within these units, they will hold medium-security male inmates. One of the mods is a minimum-security direct supervision unit that also holds males. Two more of the housing units are maximum-security indirect supervision that holds male inmates.  The last housing pod is an indirect minimum and maximum-security for female inmates.  The housing units will also have video visitation booths, outdoor exercise areas, and multi-purpose rooms.

The facility also consists of laundry areas, medical areas, a kitchen, and booking/intake section.
