The Currituck County Detention Center is situated in Maple, North Carolina. The Currituck County Sheriff’s Office is the agency behind overseeing the day to day operations for the Currituck County Detention Center.
However, the Currituck County Jail does not only hold those with a sentence, but they also hold inmates who are awaiting trial, or those who could not post bond either. All inmates are entitled to having medical care (if needed), three meals a day, and personal hygiene care.
There are a handful of inmates in the facility that are serving out their sentence. Majority of the inmates in the Currituck County Detention Center are inmates currently waiting for their trial to start, going through their trial, or inmates waiting to be sentenced. Inmates who are serving out their sentence will have a sentence of two years or less. If an inmate is sentenced to a sentence for more than two years, they will be transferred to state prison.
The Currituck County Sheriff’s Department wants to promote a safe and humane housing facility for its inmates, staff, and the community they serve.
