Alamance County Detention Center opened its doors back in 1994. The reason for the detention center was to provide a safer community for all involved. With the new State REgulations rolling out, the county jail that was standing prior to Alamance County Detention Center wasn’t able to meet all of these requirements set forth.

The Alamance County Detention Center was designed to meet and surpass the State Requirements. However, the facility also was designed to ensure a safe environment for the correctional officers. The building materials that were used to build the Trumball County Detention Center was used as it would create a maintenance-free, yet long-term complex.

The Alamance County Detention Center uses the latest and greatest Security Automation technology alongside all of the new and improved Policy and Procedures manual. The Alamance County Detention Center will be able to utilize all of the functions that the Alamance County Adult Justice Center offers.

This new facility that is now known as the Alamance County Detention Center took many years of careful planning. There were many agencies involved with the planning including the Alamance County Jail Administrators, the Alamance County Sheriff, Thomas Altiere, and many other agencies to make this dream become a reality.
