The goal of the Socorro County Jail is to have all of their staff members meet and exceed the standards that the Administrative Codes, New Mexico State Statutes, and the United State Constitution set forth. All staff members will go through rigorous training to meet every procedure and policy to ensure the safety of both the other staff members and the community.

The facility is a medium-security facility. It can hold over 160 inmates. Many inmates in this facility have a sentence of 2 years and less.
However, the Socorro County Jail does not only hold those with a sentence, but they also hold inmates who are awaiting trial, or those who could not post bond either. All inmates are entitled to having medical care (if needed), three meals a day, and personal hygiene care.
