The Dixon County Jail is nestled in Ponca, Nebraska. The Dixon County Sheriff’s Office is the law enforcement agency responsible for the day to day operations of the Dixon County Jail.
As of today, they will be able to house close to 1,700 inmates on a permanent basis. The facility not only has a maximum-security portion of the jail (main jail), but they also have four housing tents, mental health and medical facility, and a women’s jail as well.
Their correctional officers go through intense training to ensure the safety of everyone involved. The Dixon County & Annex operates that surpasses both state and national standards on a day to day basis.
While the majority of the inmates in the facility are residents in Dixon County, not all of them are. The Dixon County accepts inmates from the surrounding cities, counties, and even the occasional federal inmate.
The Dixon County Jail is accredited by the Nebraska Corrections Accreditation Commission.
However, there are a handful of inmates who have already been sentenced as well. The Dixon County Jail is home to inmates who are waiting for their trial to start, going through their trial, and inmates who are waiting to be sentenced. Most of the inmates that have been sentenced will carry a sentence of two years and less.
