These inmates who have already been sentenced will carry a sentence of two years or less. Inmates who are sentenced to more than two years will be transferred to state prison. The Cherry County Jail typically holds inmates who are waiting for their trial to start, inmates who are going through their trial, and inmates who are waiting to be sentenced. However, there are a handful of inmates who have already been sentenced.
All inmates are entitled to having medical care (if needed), three meals a day, and personal hygiene care. However, the Cherry County Jail does not only hold those with a sentence, but they also hold inmates who are awaiting trial, or those who could not post bond either.
