The Roosevelt County Detention Center is also known as the Main Jail facility. The building was built back in 1979. The facility saw new additions in 1988 and 1999. The Roosevelt County Detention Center can house up to 507 inmates at any given time.
The main mission of the Roosevelt County Detention Center is to rehabilitate the inmates prior to releasing them back into the communities.
The Roosevelt County Detention Center also offers its inmates many programs to help aid them in their rehabilitation process. These programs are designed to help inmates become productive members of the community upon their release.
Inmates will also have access to psychiatric, medical, and dental care when needed as well.
When an inmate is going through the intake process, they will be classified. The Corrections Division classifies inmates based on a few factors. These factors include their past criminal charges (if any), current criminal charges, past institutional behavior, and a few other undisclosed factors. Based on these findings the inmate will either be housed in a cell by themselves or in a dormitory style housing.
Inmates who are deemed violent or may disrupt the peace will be separated from the general population of inmates.
