The Pondera County Jail & Detention Center is nestled in Conrad, Montana. The Pondera County Sheriff’s Office is the law enforcement agency responsible for overseeing the day to day operation of the Pondera County Jail & Detention Center.
The Pondera County Jail only houses adult male and adult female inmates. The facility has a daily inmate population of around 300 inmates. The Pondera County Jail will process nearly 7,000 inmates every year.
The Pondera County Jail has many services and programs inmates can take advantage of. These services and programs are put into place to help inmates not re-offend when they get released from the facility.

However, the facility is not just for those who live and reside in the Oneida area, the facility also reserves 35 beds for federal prisoners. These beds will be occupied when a federal prisoner is being transported throughout the states and may have a court appearance in the area.
Throughout the decades the facility has received much-needed care. The current facility underwent a huge renovation between 1996 to 1998.
