The Fergus County Detention Facility is located in Lewiston, Montana. The facility is operated and managed by the Fergus County Sheriff’s Office.

The facility is a minimum-security facility. It also operates with the Oriana House as well.

The Fergus County Detention Facility opened its doors back in August of 1990. When the Fergus County Detention Facility opened it was replacing the Lewiston Correctional Facility.

It was not until 2006 when the facility was approved to construct three more housing pods that would be equipped with double bunks for their inmates. This was going to bring their total number of beds to 671. They would be able to house 89 females, 564 males, and 18 toss-up beds.

While the Fergus County Detention Facility is a full-service detention center, they operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Alongside the Fergus County Detention Facility is the Oriana House. The Oriana House has 2 supervisors 13 deputies for the 150-bed facility. This facility is for DUI offenders and non-violent overflow offenders from the jail.

Majority of the inmates in the facility are non-violent offenders. They typically carry a 2 year or less sentence. The facility does not only house inmates who have sentences, they also house inmates who are currently awaiting their trial also.
