The McDonald County Jail is a medium security prison that houses adult inmates. No minors are in this facility. This facility is where people who are arrested in McDonald County will go when they are booked and processed.

As of today, the McDonald County Jail can hold up to 40 inmates at any given time. Not all inmates in the facility have been sentenced. There are inmates in the facility that are waiting for their trial or waiting for their sentencing.

The McDonald County Sheriff’s Office is the agency responsible for maintaining and running the McDonald County Jail.

The McDonald County Jail is staffed by the Deputy Sheriffs, a number of volunteers and support staff, Correctional Officers, and Sheriff Command Officers.

The McDonald County Jail also offers its inmates many programs to help aid them in their rehabilitation process. These programs are designed to help inmates become productive members of the community upon their release.

These programs include, but not limited to the following:

• Clinton Counseling
• Community Corrections
• Community Service Alternatives (Only for non-violent inmates)
• Prisoner Work Details (Under the sheriff’s office supervision)
• Jail Ministry
• L’anse Creuse Correctional Education

Even though an inmate is serving their time out in the McDonald County Jail, it does not mean they cannot call home to their loved ones. The facility requires the inmates family and friends to load up money on the inmate’s phone account for them to call home.
