The Jackson County Juvenile Justice is a maximum-security facility. The facility is eight stories tall and adjacent to the downtown Fort Lauderdale Jackson County Courthouse.
This facility is mainly used as we’ve previously stated as a temporary safe environment. For example, the Jackson County Juvenile Justice will house inmates after they get arrested, prior to their trial, and even after their trial prior to them going to a permanent facility.
For the inmates who have been sentenced, they typically have a sentence of one year or less. Most of the inmates in this facility are currently waiting to be sentenced or waiting for their trial. However, there are still some inmates who have already been sentenced. The Jackson County Juvenile Justice only houses all adult males.
The Jackson County Juvenile Justice accepts inmates from surrounding municipalities and towns when there are no rooms in city jails. Majority of the inmates that are already sentenced have sentences less than two years.
