The St. Louis County Juvenile Detention is in Duluth, Minnesota. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is the department responsible for operating and managing the St. Louis County Juvenile Detention.
In return for their hard work, they can shave off a few days from their overall sentence. While inmates are serving their time out in the St. Louis County Juvenile Detention, they can work throughout the jail such as laundry personnel or a kitchen staff member.
They do not house juvenile inmates. All inmates in the facility are not residents of the St. Louis County. The facility takes inmates in from the surrounding counties, towns, and from other law enforcement agencies when needed. The facility only houses adult male and adult female inmates.
The Annex is a direct supervision facility. The Annex can currently hold up to another 487 inmates. In March of 1989, the facility built an Annex.
The facility is a medium security correctional facility. The St. Louis County Juvenile Detention mission is to provide a safe and secure facility for both inmates and the staff.
