The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office is the agency responsible for keeping and maintaining the Anoka County Jail. In addition to taking in their own residents, the facility also houses inmates wanted from other states and in other counties throughout the state of Minnesota as well as take in inmates from the U.S. Marshall’s as well.
All of the labor going into the renovations will be conducted by inmates serving time in the facility to help save tax dollars. in 2019, the Anoka County Jail is going under some small renovations, such as getting a new outside look.
Anoka County Jail wants to provide a safe and humane environment for both the staff members and the inmates. They want to ensure that inmates safety and health come first along with the staff’s safety as well. The staff members will do their rounds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure there are no issues with inmates and to ensure that no inmate can escape from the facility.
Inmates in the facility will also have the chance to get medical treatment when necessary.
However, the facility also houses typically around 65 juveniles that are waiting for their trial, but they are housed separately from the adults. The inmates who are in the Anoka County Jail are usually violent, dangerous, escape risks, and require to be in a maximum-security facility.
