Renaissance Home for Youth opened its doors back in 1994. The reason for the detention center was to provide a safer community for all involved. With the new State REgulations rolling out, the county jail that was standing prior to Renaissance Home for Youth wasn’t able to meet all of these requirements set forth.

The Renaissance Home for Youth was designed to meet and surpass the State Requirements. However, the facility also was designed to ensure a safe environment for the correctional officers. The building materials that were used to build the Trumball County Detention Center was used as it would create a maintenance-free, yet long-term complex.

The Renaissance Home for Youth uses the latest and greatest Security Automation technology alongside all of the new and improved Policy and Procedures manual. The Renaissance Home for Youth will be able to utilize all of the functions that the Rapides Parish County Adult Justice Center offers.

This new facility that is now known as the Renaissance Home for Youth took many years of careful planning. There were many agencies involved with the planning including the Rapides Parish County Jail Administrators, the Rapides Parish County Sheriff, Thomas Altiere, and many other agencies to make this dream become a reality.
