The Spencer County Jail is nestled in Taylorsville, Kentucky. The Spencer County Sheriff’s Office is the law enforcement agency responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Spencer County Jail.
The Spencer County Jail is a medium-security facility. The Spencer County Jail only houses adult inmates. No minors will be housed in this facility.
The Spencer County Jail accepts inmates from surrounding municipalities and towns when there are no rooms in city jails. Majority of the inmates that are already sentenced have sentences less than two years at best.
The Spencer County Jail is just a temporary safe environment for juveniles that are accused or adjudicated of a crime and cannot go home.
Inmates will need funds in their account to purchase these items from the commissary. While in the Spencer County Jail, inmates will have the opportunity to buy products that they are not given by the facility at the commissary. The jail uses Access Corrections for their commissary needs.
In 2017, the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office axed the Jails Community Corrections Division. This means that the Spencer County Jail will not have the Work Crew or the Work/Education Release (WER) programs available to their inmates any longer.
