The Jessamine County Detention Center is a medium-security facility. The facility is home to adult male and adult female inmates. This facility does not take in any juvenile inmates whatsoever. There is another facility within the Jessamine County that will keep the juveniles.
The Jessamine County Detention Center will typically hold inmates who are waiting for their trial to start, inmates currently going through their trial, and inmates who are waiting to be sentenced. That does not mean, there are not inmates who are currently serving out their sentence in the facility. If an inmate is sentenced to more than two years, they will be transferred to a state prison in Kentucky.
