The Colby County Jail was built back in 1973. The facility is a maximum-security jail. The Colby County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for maintaining and operating the Colby County Jail.

Housing units are staffed 24 hours a day by correctional officers who organize all of the activities in the jail.
The Colby County Jail is staffed by the Deputy Sheriffs, a number of volunteers and support staff, Correctional Officers, and Sheriff Command Officers.
They will also have a few single cells for inmates who need to stay overnight for further treatment. Inmates in the Colby County Jail will have access to medical care. All medical staff is licensed. Medical care is available for inmates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
