The Johnson County New Century Detention Center is licensed as a Class III Jail. The facility can hold up to 1081 inmates at any given time. In 2017, the facility saw yet another new addition. This new addition was to the courthouse and the detention center. This addition consists of another 19 detention beds added, a bigger intake section, office space for the sheriff’s office and jail, and a video visitation area.

The Jail Administrator has the job of supervising the operation of the facility. The Jail Administrator has the help of the Jail Programmer, eleven full-time correctional staff, and four Sergeants.
