Majority of the inmates that are already sentenced have sentences less than two years. The Jackson County Jail accepts inmates from surrounding municipalities and towns when there are no rooms in city jails.
The Jackson County Jail receives new inmates to the jail daily. While new inmates are coming in, there are also inmates leaving as well. Inmates are released when they post bail, placed under probation, or on their own recognizance.
The Jackson County Jail also has an Interim WOrk Center. The Interim WOrk Center is also known as the low-medium custody facility. This facility holds around 130 inmates. There are an additional 30 inmates every day that is serving time with the Electronic Home Detention.
All violent and out of control inmates will be separated from the general population inmates to keep the peace inside the facility at all times.
