The Black Hawk County Jail is in Waterloo, Iowa. The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office is the department responsible for operating and managing the Black Hawk County Jail.
The facility employs the following people:
- Booking Clerks
- Clerical/Support Staff
- Civilian Detention Officers
- Master Control Technicians
The facility does not only meet the state’s standards, but they also surpass the national standards as well. All deputies that work in the Black Hawk Jail go through intense training to help them provide a safe and humane environment for the staff members, visitors, and other inmates.
The facility only houses adult male and adult female inmates. They do not house juvenile inmates. All inmates in the facility are not residents of the Black Hawk County. The facility takes inmates in from the surrounding counties, towns, and from other law enforcement agencies when needed.
Inmates will have the opportunities to use the telephones, showers, have three meals a day, and have the opportunity to have medical care if needed. If an inmate wants more products that the facility does not provide, they can purchase them through the commissary with money that they have on their books.
The Black Hawk County Jail also allows inmates to have visitors as well.
