The Williamson County decided to begin the long and drawn out process to build a brand new sheriff’s office and jail in the early 2007 year. It wasn’t until February of 2012 when the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and the Williamson County Jail opened its doors. The facility is a brand new state of the art jail and office.
The Williamson County Jail can hold up to 244 inmates at any given time. The facility is completely self-sufficient when it comes to day to day operations such as food service, laundry, and housing.
The Williamson County Jail is operated and managed by Darren Ferrell, the Jail Administrator. Alongside Darren Ferrell, they have a highly trained staff that helps with the day to day business operations. All staff that is employed at the Williamson County Jail must undergo the required state of Illinois Training Board Certified 200 Hour Academy.
Williamson County Jail wants to provide a safe and humane environment for both the staff members and the inmates. They want to ensure that inmates safety and health come first along with the staff’s safety as well. The staff members will do their rounds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure there are no issues with inmates and to ensure that no inmate can escape from the facility.
