The Putnam County Jail is a medium-security county jail. The jail holds inmates who are already sentenced or inmates who are awaiting trial. Majority of inmates who have already have been sentenced will have a 2 year or less sentence.
As of today, they will be able to house close to 1,700 inmates on a permanent basis. The facility not only has a maximum-security portion of the jail (main jail), but they also have four housing tents, mental health and medical facility, and a women’s jail as well.
All inmates will also have access to personal hygiene care products as well. Inmates can expect to receive three meals a day as well as a highly structured day. All inmates will have access to medical care if needed.
All inmates in the Putnam County Jail will have access to medical attention when needed, personal hygiene care products, and three meals every day.
The Putnam County Jail accepts inmates from other law enforcement agencies on a local, state, and even federal level. The facility books and processes inmates on a daily basis. The facility is open to book and process inmates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Inmates who may be a risk to the peace will be separated from the general population pool.
The Putnam County Jail is accredited by the Illinois Corrections Accreditation Commission.
