Run by the Moultrie County Sheriff’s Office, The Moultrie County Jail opened 30 years ago in 1989.
The correctional officers perform daily jail checks which will include walking the perimeter and ensure that no inmate can escape. Correctional officers also ensure that inmates have all of the proper things they need and that they are well.
The jail is fairly small. As of today, the Moultrie County Jail can house up to 55 inmates at any given time. The facility consists of an office portion where the jailers will sit at their desk along with two holding pens where they old the current arrestees waiting to be processed and booked into the facility or those who will soon be released from the facility after they detoxify.
Juveniles are housed in another facility in the county. The Moultrie County Jail is a medium-security facility. This facility does not house any juveniles. The facility is home to adult female and adult male inmates.
All inmates in the Moultrie County Jail will have access to a variety of programs and services.
