The Mercer County Jail is located in Aledo, Illinois. The facility is operated and ran by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department.
The Mercer County Jail first opened its doors back in 1989. During this time, the jail could only hold a maximum of 30 inmates.
Shortly after they opened their doors, they started to expand by adding more housing units, which brought their total from 30 inmates up to 102 inmates.
