Lake County Juvenile Detention opened its doors back in 1994. The reason for the detention center was to provide a safer community for all involved. With the new State REgulations rolling out, the county jail that was standing prior to Lake County Juvenile Detention wasn’t able to meet all of these requirements set forth.
The Lake County Juvenile Detention was designed to meet and surpass the State Requirements. However, the facility also was designed to ensure a safe environment for the correctional officers. The building materials that were used to build the Trumball County Detention Center was used as it would create a maintenance-free, yet long-term complex.
The Lake County Juvenile Detention uses the latest and greatest Security Automation technology alongside all of the new and improved Policy and Procedures manual. The Lake County Juvenile Detention will be able to utilize all of the functions that the Lake County Adult Justice Center offers.
This new facility that is now known as the Lake County Juvenile Detention took many years of careful planning. There were many agencies involved with the planning including the Lake County Jail Administrators, the Lake County Sheriff, Thomas Altiere, and many other agencies to make this dream become a reality.
