The Jefferson County Jail is operated and managed by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Jail Division. The mission of the facility is to provide a safe and secure place for those who are currently incarcerated in the Vanderburgh area.
The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art security systems that control locks and doors. It’s all computerized and has an integrated touch screen security that allows internal communications. They have over 130 cameras that record the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Most of the inmates in the facility have already been sentenced. However, there are inmates that are currently awaiting trial as well. Many of the inmates will complete their sentence in the Jefferson County Jail if there is space available.
The LaSalle Corrections is the law enforcement agency responsible for the day to day operation of the Jefferson County Jail. The Jefferson County Jail is situated in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
The jail employs 95 full-time correctional officers. Major Chad Ferguson oversee the day to day operations at the Jefferson County Jail.
