The Douglas County Jail is a medium-security county jail. The jail does not house anyone under the age of 18 in this facility. It is home to adult male inmates who reside or did a crime in the Douglas County area.
The facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Douglas County Jail can hold up to 40 inmates. The jail has four Sergeants or also known as supervisors alongside 8 additional correctional officers that work on a rotating shift.
The facility has even housed federal inmates while they are being transferred elsewhere or have an appearance in the area. The facility also works closely with other law agencies when needed.
All inmates in the facility will have access to showers, the telephones, having 3 meals a day, and medical treatment when needed. Inmates will also be able to participate in programs such as educational and substance abuse programs as while they are serving their time out.
Inmates will also have access to psychiatric, medical, and dental care when needed as well.
When an inmate is going through the intake process, they will be classified. Based on these findings the inmate will either be housed in a cell by themselves or in a dormitory style housing. These factors include their past criminal charges (if any), current criminal charges, past institutional behavior, and a few other undisclosed factors. The Corrections Division classifies inmates based on a few factors.
