Run by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, The Cook County Sheriff’s Office currently houses a maximum capacity of 64 inmates who are held in nine connecting housing units, plus the Receiving and Discharge/Transport unit.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office also offers its inmates many programs to help aid them in their rehabilitation process. These programs are designed to help inmates become productive members of the community upon their release.
They also want to provide the best of the best programs to help reduce the likelihood of inmates being re-incarcerated. Cook County Detention Center main mission is to protect their staff, inmates, and the community they serve.
The facility also holds inmates who are waiting for their trial, inmates going through the judicial system, and inmates who didn’t make (or was denied) bond. The facility is not only home to inmates who have already been sentenced. As of today, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office can hold up to 200 inmates at any given time.
