The main part of the complex opened their doors back in 1986. When the main part of the complex first opened they could hold up to 500 inmates.
As of currently, the Brevard County Jail Complex can house over 1,700 inmates every day. The complex comes equipped with a housing area, booking area, laundry facility, medical ward, visiting areas, courtroom, and support areas.
The facility not only has a maximum-security portion of the jail (main jail), but they also have four housing tents, mental health and medical facility, and a women’s jail as well.
They are currently expanding. The fourth tent is not currently up for use, but that will add in another 100 beds for inmates. Their new mental health dormitory can hold up to 300 inmates comfortably as well. They will be expanding their food services area in the near future.
