The Hinsdale County Jail is in Lake City, Colorado. The Hinsdale County Sheriff’s Office is the law enforcement agency in charge of the day to day operation of the Hinsdale County Jail.

The Hinsdale County Jail is medium-security detention center. The facility operates on a 24-hour basis. The Hinsdale County Jail will only house adult male and adult female inmates. This facility will not house any juvenile inmates are housed in a different facility within the county.

The Hinsdale County Jail is made up of mainly of inmates who are currently waiting for their trial to start, inmates who are going through their trial, and inmates who are waiting to be sentenced. There are a number of inmates who are currently serving out their sentence in the facility as well. The Hinsdale County Jail will house inmates who have a sentence of two years or less. If an inmate is sentenced to more than two years, they will be transferred out to state prison within Colorado.
