The Elbert County Jail opened its doors back in 1987. When the facility first opened their doors they could house up to 111 inmates at one time.
They only house adult males and adult females. Inmates will also have the chance to seek out medical care, if and when needed. The facility is a medium-security jail. All inmates will have access to telephone, showers, and have three meals a day. All inmates in the facility are not an escape risk. They do not house any juveniles.
They provide a great service coincide with the Elbert County Jail. The Elbert County Sheriff’s Department works closely with the Elbert County Search and Rescue and the emergency services.
It’s all computerized and has an integrated touch screen security that allows internal communications. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art security systems that control locks and doors. They have over 100 cameras that record the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The facility is one of the areas that help keep the community safe with the rehabilitation of inmates prior to them going back into the community.
The Elbert County Jail has its inmate roster public for the community to view. The database will only show those who are currently behind bars in the Elbert County Jail. The database is updated regularly.
